How Craig started fishing

I caught bass feaver during the summer of 1976 fishing on the banks of the Seneca River in Liverpool, NY. I was a young kid with a bamboo pole when I caught my first largemouth bass, I have been hooked ever since.

2010 on Black Lake New York, fishing with my Son Garrett and guide Randy Yager we caught over 100 bass both largemouth and smallmouth that day. 


How Craig preps for a tournament

1. Conditions are always changing, I am always checking the current weather conditions up to the last minute.

2. I have all my primary rods and reels rigged and ready to fish.

3. Boat and trailer check, batteries fully charged for me it's mainly time management.

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

2015 BASSMASTER Southern Open on Lake Toho Kissimmee day 1 fishing as a Coangler with Lakeland Florida Pro Eric Conant. Caught a 9.4 pound bass, that helped me earn a 21st place finish. 


Most challenging part of tournament fishing

Don't over think the current fishing conditions.


When tournaments don't go my way

Learn from it. Perform an honest objective after action review, and make corrective actions. Don't make the same mistakes next tournament. Always learn at least one key takeaway from every tournament.


Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

Get a college education, and join your college fishing team. Learn everything you can about the sport to include your marketability get to know the business side of tournament bass fishing.

Fish as a coangler in as many major Open Bass Tournaments as you can to learn from the Pros.


Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport

Limit your bass bait & lure color choices to a few basics that work in your area of the country and learn how to fish them the correct way as the season weather conditions change. Don't get "Tackle Shop Fever"Save yourself a ton of time and money.
