Jennings Win on Kentucky Lake

Couples fishing the American Couples Series fished through some tough conditions, Sunday, April 30 on Kentucky Lake.  Coleton and Taylor Jennings mastered the conditions, the lake, and the field with a very tight victory winning with a 5 bass limit weighing 12.41 pounds.

The couple's catch was anchored by a 3.64 smallmouth.  The Jennings used a white chatterbait with a Jenko 4.0 Tremor Shad trailer on a 7’2” Jenko medium High Roller rod. The fish came on shallow transition banks from 2 to 4 feet in dirty water.  They keyed on lay downs and brush.  Every piece of brush had to be picked apart which was not easy under these conditions.  The Jennings took home $405 for their effort today and took over the Division points lead.

Jerrod and Tammy Easley took second place, weighing 4 fish at 11.06 pounds.  Their sack was anchored by the big fish of the day, a 3.75 pound largemouth caught by Jerrod.  Jerrod and Tammy fished and started out fishing spawning pockets, then went to the first deep banks and points.

The couple targeted fish moving in and out to spawn.  They may have one this tournament, but for missing several fish and Jerrod breaking a quality fish off.  Jerrod says their success is just a blessing from God.  Their top producing baits were soft plastics and crankbaits. They enjoyed a $270 payday for 2nd place; they also collected another $90 for the Men’s and Lady’s Big Bass of the day.  They were 3.75 and 2.64 Largemouth respectively.

David and Paula Bowman took third place with three fish weighing 6.28 pounds.
We would like to thank a couple of sponsors for their support, Jenko Fishing and Duckett Fishing.

These two companies have great fishing products and are kind enough to donate some of them to our division for prizes during the year and especially at our year-end banquet.  Again, thank you Jenko and Duckett Fishing.  Your gracious generosity is greatly appreciated.

The division's next tournament will be held on Kentucky Lake at the Wildcat Ramp in Blood River on May 21st.  For more information contact Mike Roe at (859)552-4047

In the American Couples Series, anglers pair up for a team effort. Most teams consist of a husband and a wife, but that’s not a rule. Teams can consist of a boyfriend and girlfriend combination, a father and daughter duo, or any combination of one male and one female.

The teams compete in several regional or state divisions throughout the year. Once a pair forms a team, however, the two must fish together as a team throughout the season to be eligible to accumulate points and qualify for the annual national championship.

The entry fee for the American Couples Series one-day events is $100 and the top teams are invited to compete in the championship each fall.

American Bass Anglers is sponsored by Caymas Boats, Mercury Marine, T-H Marine, RT Outdoors, Atlas Hydraulic Jackplate, Power Pole, Optima Batteries, HotelPlanner.com, and LurePartsOnline.com.

About American Bass Anglers: American Bass Anglers is committed to providing low-cost, close-to-home tournaments for the weekend angler and, at the same time, offering each competitor an upward path for individual angler progression.
