Montgomery Wins D74 Two-Day Championship And AOY Race
Luke Montgomery of Smithville, GA. won the American Fishing Tour Division 74 District Championship tournament presented by American Bass Anglers. Running out of the Mega ramp near Cordele, GA. Montgomery brought back five fish on day one that locked in the scales at 14.63 pounds.
On day two Luke caught another five fish limit adding 20.50 pounds with a 7.18-pound kicker for a two-day total of 35.12 pounds. He stated that day two was a lot tougher because of heavy boat traffic in his main areas but managed to still get bites. Along with the win Luke also claimed the 2022 Angler of the year title. For the win, he took home a check for $846, plus an additional $ 150 for day two big bass.
Coming in second was Jimmy Troxell from Leesburg Ga with a two-day total of 21.50 pounds. For his efforts, Jimmy took home $446, an additional $150 for day-one big bass. Jimmy stated that fishing was better on day one for him, but boat traffic made it very tough to stay focused.
William Sheffield of Hawkinsville, GA who finished third had only two keepers on day one, one of which was a 6.03 pounder. William fared much better on day two with a five-fish limit tipping the scales at 12.12 pounds. William took home a check for $158 for his efforts.
Paul Anthony of Dawson, GA took fourth with seven fish and a total two-day weight of 17.42 pounds. Anthony said he caught his fish on plastics and crankbaits.
Jeff Morey of Leesburg, GA finished in fifth with a total weight of 16.84 pounds anchored by a 5.91 pounder kicker.

Fisher wins American Fishing Tour Event on Chickahominy River
6 Aug 2022, Williamsburg, VA, 27 anglers launched from Chickahominy Riverfront Park near Williamsburg, VA in the final one-day Virginia Division 13 qualifying event on the American Fishing Tour. Twenty of those anglers brought back five-fish limits to the scales, but when the scales closed Doug Fisher from Newport News, VA took the victory with 15.97 pounds.
Hartsell Wins On Sizzling Lake Tenkiller
COOKSON, Okla. – James Toby Hartsell won the Boater Division in the American Bass Anglers Open Series, Presented by Caymas Boats, Oklahoma Division 14 regular-season finale, held July 30, 2022, at Lake Tenkiller.
