ABA Introduces the Top 150 Solo Series
Athens, AL, October 8, 2020 – American Bass Anglers announced today the formation of the new Top 150 Solo. The new Tour will launch in February of 2021 and will offer two divisions, each holding three tournaments, one division in the Southeast and one in the Southwest.
Each qualifying tournament will have two days (Friday & Saturday) of competition and have a limited field of 150 anglers. Each tournament will offer a $20,000 award to first place based on a full field and payback will be to the top 20 percent of the field.
“We have been asked for years to have a solo tournament trail with an affordable entry fee and a good payback, well this is the trail. “These tournaments have been scheduled on great lakes and at the prime time for big stringers.", said Morris Sheehan, American Bass Anglers President and Owner.
This series is designed for those angers who want a mid-level entry fee tournament trail with a substantial payback. Entry fee will be $600.00 per event with a payout to the top 20 percent of the field including big fish. Registration will begin October 26th at 8:00AM central time, anglers will be able to pay a deposit to secure their position or pay the full amount, a waiting list will be available for full field events.
Winners of each event will qualify for the Ray Scott Championship providing they have fished all their divisional events. The Angler of the Year (top points holder) of each Division, will also qualify for the Ray Scott Championship

Mike Butcher Wins On Big Hill
The wind was blowing and the bass were biting; Big Hill Lake turned on! All anglers in the American Bass Anglers tournament held May 8, 2021 on Big Hill Lake brought fish to the scales. Mike Burcher brought in the heaviest bag, weighing 19.28 lbs. He had 2nd Bid Bass, a 5.11 lb largemouth
Danny and Virginia Christ win on Lake Mitchell
ATHENS, Al. – Danny and Virginia Christ won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama Division 1 tournament, held April 18, 2021, on Lake Mitchell. Running out of Higgins Ferry boat ramp out of Clanton, AL, they caught 5 bass weighing 15.73 pounds. For the victory, they earned a check for $788.00. Virginia won the Woman’s Big Fish with a 4.87-pound kicker. They caught their fish in shallow water on a worm.
Hawkins Wins $2600 on Harris Chain
ATHENS, Ala. –Calan Hawkins won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series Florida Central tournament, held May 1st on the Harris Chain of Lakes. Running out of Venetian Gardens – Ski Beach in Leesburg, FL the Fruitland Park, FL angler caught five bass weighing 24.56 pounds including a 7.61-pound kicker. For the Boater Division victory, Hawkins took home a check for $2600 for his win.
Team Tour Championship Postponed
Out of an overabundance of caution The Team Tour Championship that was scheduled for 10/10-11/2020 on Wheeler Lake has be postponed. The National Weather Service is forecasting winds of 10-20 mph with gust up to 35mph for Saturday, and winds of 10-15 mph with gust up to 20 mph Sunday. The safety of our anglers is the number on concern and factor when making the tough decisions on postponing a tournament.
