Sam Rayburn Double Header

June 15, 2020, Athens, AL. June 20 and 21 ABA and Bass Pro Shops will host a doubleheader weekend on Lake Sam Rayburn out of in Brookeland, TX. The second and third tournaments for the Bass Pro Shops Open Series Southeast Texas Division will be held. Both events will launch from Umphrey Pavilion, County Road 255, Brookeland, TX, 75951.

Louisiana angler David Beason of Evans LA Won the first event on Rayburn this season with an impressive 29.90 pounds limit with a 8.74 big bass kicker. David Banked $5,200 for the win.

Last June Jason Lawson of Corrigan, TX won on Rayburn with 24.11 pounds with 5.96 big bass and took home $5,000 for the win.
“I have been here for a couple days, and Wednesday I had about 25 lbs while I was pre-fishing, didn’t touch those fish the rest of the week, went back to them this morning and never got a bite. Around 10:00 with nothing in the boat I went to a spot where I knew a big laydown was and caught the 6 lber first and managed to fill the box with good keepers.  I wasn’t expecting to catch what I did, where I did, but I’m very pleased with the outcome.” Said Jason.

In second for the boaters was Nick LeBrun out of Bossier City, LA. Nick brought a solid bag of five fish to weigh-in, settling in at 22.01 lbs. Sitting comfortably in second place, he took home a check earning him $1400 for the day.

“I haven’t been here in about 3 months, so I ran some ledges I had fished before.  They were deep ledges and I did not get very many bites but the ones I did get were decent fish.  I only culled a couple of times but all of them came on a big jig.  I put together a good bag and for not being here in a while, I am happy with the outcome,” said Nick.
The Bass Pro Shops Open Series is a Pro-Am format and Anglers can sign up for one of both events.

Stringent guidelines of social distancing will be used and enforced that these events and all anglers would read and follow ABA guidelines that will be applied to events from this link. (https://americanbassanglers.com/Story.php?Newsid=6486)

Tom and Missy take the win and the GLine Battery $100 Bounty on Cooper River

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day on the Cooper River with mild temperatures and sunny skies!  We had eight teams come out to compete with every team bringing fish to the scales.  Several teams commented on how clear the water was and how many big bass they watched swimming but couldn’t get to bite.  It seems that the most productive bite was on crank baits and worms.

Tom and Missy Bancroft took First Place with 5 largemouth bass weighing 8.15 lbs. earning $360.  We caught our bass on crankbaits in the morning and shaky head worms in the afternoon.
