Florida Central Returns to the Harris Chain
ATHENS, Ala. – The Florida Central Division of the 2019 Bass Pro Shops Open Series presented by American Bass Anglers will hold its third event of the season on April 13, 2019, on the Harris Chain near Tavares, FL. The competitors will launch at Hickory Point Recreational Facility located at 27341FL-19, Tavares, FL, 32778. Anglers may begin fishing at 6:45a.m. or safe light. The weigh-in will begin at 3:00 p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m. local time at Hickory Point Recreational Facility with the tournament briefing to begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening April 12, 2019.

To enter, anglers fishing the Boater Division pay $210 with co-anglers paying $105. The payout for all events will be based on the number of entries, for one-day divisional events, $5000 will go the winning boater based on a minimum of 60 boats, for each 2-day Area Championship $10,000 for boaters and $5,000 for co-anglers based on 100 boats. Anglers fishing the Boater Division may weigh in up to five bass, each at least 12 inches long with an exemption permit available at registration. Co-anglers may weigh in up to three bass.
In addition to cash and prizes for top finishers, boater and co-angler competitors may also win contingency bonuses from such sponsors as Triton Boats, Mercury Outboards, MotorGuide, T-H Marine, Power Pole, Berkley and ABU Garcia. Attention: Boaters must meet their Co-Angler partners in the Soccer Parking Field or Offsite before lining up to launch boats to facilitate traffic flow.

Mike Butcher Wins On Big Hill

Danny and Virginia Christ win on Lake Mitchell
ATHENS, Al. – Danny and Virginia Christ won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama Division 1 tournament, held April 18, 2021, on Lake Mitchell. Running out of Higgins Ferry boat ramp out of Clanton, AL, they caught 5 bass weighing 15.73 pounds. For the victory, they earned a check for $788.00. Virginia won the Woman’s Big Fish with a 4.87-pound kicker. They caught their fish in shallow water on a worm.
Hawkins Wins $2600 on Harris Chain
ATHENS, Ala. –Calan Hawkins won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series Florida Central tournament, held May 1st on the Harris Chain of Lakes. Running out of Venetian Gardens – Ski Beach in Leesburg, FL the Fruitland Park, FL angler caught five bass weighing 24.56 pounds including a 7.61-pound kicker. For the Boater Division victory, Hawkins took home a check for $2600 for his win.
Team Tour Championship Postponed
Out of an overabundance of caution The Team Tour Championship that was scheduled for 10/10-11/2020 on Wheeler Lake has be postponed. The National Weather Service is forecasting winds of 10-20 mph with gust up to 35mph for Saturday, and winds of 10-15 mph with gust up to 20 mph Sunday. The safety of our anglers is the number on concern and factor when making the tough decisions on postponing a tournament.
