Virginia Division Heads to Lake Gaston

ATHENS, Ala. – The Virginia Division of the Bass Pro Shops Open Series presented by American Bass Anglers will hold its second event of the season on Lake Gaston on 3/23/19.

The competitors will launch from Holly Grove Marina located at 8826 Hwy 903 Bracey, Virginia. Anglers will begin fishing at 7:15 am or safe light on Saturday 3/23/19 with the weigh-in to start at 3:30 pm. Registration begins at 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Friday 3/22/19 local time at the ABA stage trailer at Holly Grove Marina, with the pairings meeting to follow at 7:00 p.m.

To enter, anglers fishing the boater division pay $210.00 with co-anglers paying $105.00 per event. The payout for all events will be based on the number of entries. For one day divisional events $5000.00 will be paid to the winning boater based on a minimum of 60 boats. As the field increases the payout also increases. For each 2-day area championship, $10,000.00 will be paid to the winning boater based on a minimum of 100 boats and $5000.00 paid to the winning co-angler based on 100 boats.

In addition to cash and prizes for top finishers, boater and co-angler competitors fishing this tournament and Bass Pro Shops Open Series events throughout the season may also win contingency bonuses from such sponsors as Triton Boats, Mercury Outboards, MotorGuide, T-H Marine, Nitro Boats, Tracker Marine, Berkley and Power Pole. Friday 3/22/19 ABA stage trailer, located at Holly Grove Marina.
Registration is from 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm with the pairings meeting to follow at 7:00 pm. 

Tournament Information:
Limit: 5
bass for the boaters/ 3 bass for the co-anglers
Size limit: You may have two 
bass between 12-14 inches with the remainder of your catch being at least 14 inches in length.
 
Take off: 7:15 am or safe light
Weigh in 3:30 pm
Time zone: Eastern

All anglers must have a valid Virginia OR North Carolina fishing license in your possession. All boaters must have a minimum of $100,000.00 liability insurance in your possession for the boat you are operating.

Bass Pro Shops Open Series Coming To Lake Okeechobee

Athens, AL - The south Florida division of the Bass Pro Shops Open Series will hold their first tournament of the season on Lake Okeechobee. On Saturday, January 23, 2021, the tournament will be out of Clewiston, FL, launching out of the framed Roland Martin Marina and Resort.

It will be interesting to see how much Okeechobee has changed since last January. On this same weekend last year, Scott Kirsch of Edgewater, FL, won the boater side of the event with a five-fish limit of 18 pounds. Mason Meder won the Co-Angler side of the event with a three-fish limit of 10.91 pounds.

Out of an overabundance of caution The Team Tour Championship that was scheduled for 10/10-11/2020 on Wheeler Lake has be postponed.  The National Weather Service is forecasting winds of 10-20 mph with gust up to 35mph for Saturday, and winds of 10-15 mph with gust up to 20 mph Sunday.  The safety of our anglers is the number on concern and factor when making the tough decisions on postponing a tournament.  The new dates for the Team Tour Championship will be November 21-22 on Wheeler Lak
