Florida South Returns to Lake Okeechobee

ATHENS, Ala. – The Florida South Division of the 2019 Bass Pro Shops Open Series presented by American Bass Anglers returns on March 23, 2019, to Lake Okeechobee in Clewiston, FL.

The competitors will launch at Roland Martin Marina and Resort, located at 920 E. Del Monte Ave, Clewiston, FL 33440. Anglers may begin fishing at 7:15 a.m. or safe light. The weigh-in will begin at 3:15 p.m. Registration begins at 4 p.m. local time at Roland Martin Marina and Resort with the tournament briefing to begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening.

To enter, anglers fishing the Boater Division pay $210 with co-anglers paying $105. The payout for all events will be based on the number of entries, for one-day divisional events, $5000 will go the winning boater based on a minimum of 60 boats, for each 2-day Area Championship $10,000 for boaters and $5,000 for co-anglers based on 100 boats. Anglers fishing the Boater Division may weigh in up to five bass, each at least 12 inches long with an exemption permit available at registration. Co-anglers may weigh in up to three bass

In addition to cash and prizes for top finishers, boater and co-angler competitors may also win contingency bonuses from such sponsors as Triton Boats, Mercury Outboards, MotorGuide, T-H Marine, Power Pole, Berkley and ABU Garcia. David Lowery of Milledgeville, Ga took home the Bass Pro Shops Fishing Tour first place trophy and $775 cash for the D72 tournament held on November 30, 2019, at Lake Oconee.   David said he caught his five-fish limit early, using a Big Bite Baits Kamikaze Craw on a quarter ounce shaky head.  His total scale weight was 15.08 pounds, and it was secured by a 5.01 kicker.

2020 Bass Pro Shop Open Series Kick Off Event

December 2, 2019, Athens, AL. The first Bass Pro Shop Open Series event is only 41 days away.   The 2020 Kick off event will be on Lake Toho. The event will lauch out of Lakefront Park located in Kissimmee, FL on January 11, 2020.

At the 2019 kick off event Eric Panzironi of Longwood, FL weight a big sack of bass of 26.67 pounds to win $5,600 for first place. “I stayed on Toho all day. I found a big school of fish last weekend, and they stayed in the same area. I pulled up to that spot and was done by 9:30 am. Last week they were smaller, but the bigger fish moved up to that area. It feels great to start the season with a win,” Panzironi said.
