David Wright Wins $10680.00 On Kerr Lake
ATHENS, Ala. –David Wright of Lexington, North Carolina won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Area 8 Championship held on Kerr Lake on November 3-4, 2018. Running out of Nutbush Park in Henderson, North Carolina, Wright weighed in a day one five-bass limit weighing 21.27-pounds. Going into day two with almost a two-pound lead, Wright caught another five bass-limit weighing 17.87-pounds to secure the win by giving him a two-day total weight of 39.14-pounds. Wright anchored his catch with a bass weighing 5.74-pounds which also gave him big bass honors for the boaters. For his win and big bass Wright took home a total of $10,680.00.
“I caught all my fish fishing windblown points with a crankbait,” said Wright. “On day two the wind had changed directions, so I had to reposition my boat to fish the points differently.”
Sitting in 15th place after day one with a weight of 11.86-pounds, Timothy Reams of Oakland Maryland jumped 14 spots on day-two with a five-bass limit weighing 16.62-pounds giving him a two-day total of 28.48-pounds and second place. Reams took home a check for $1000.00 for the effort.
“I caught all my fish in dirty water on a spinnerbait and a jig,” said Reams. “I was able to get the better bite today.”
Taking third for the boaters, Spencer Barrow of Snow Hill, North Carolina finished with a two-day total of 26.95-pounds. Barrow collected $600.00 for his catch.
“I caught a lot of fish in two days,” said Barrow. “Everything was caught on a spinnerbait and a jig.”
In fourth place for the boaters, Tommy Marrow of Oxford, North Carolina weighed in 9-bass weighing 26.61-pounds and rounding out the top five, Ray Griffin of Greensboro, North Carolina, weighed in two five-bass limits weighing 26.49-pounds.
In the Co-Angler division Ernest McIntyre Jr. of Fayetteville, North Carolina weighed in a co-angler limit of three-bass weighing 7.75-pounds on day-one. Going into day-two in fourth place McIntyre weighed in another co-angler limit weighing 8.11-pounds giving him a two-day total of 15.86-pounds and securing the win. For his win, McIntyre took home a check for $5000.00.
“I caught all my fish dragging a jig both days. I was only looking for three bites a day. I was fortunate enough to get the right bites,” said McIntyre.
Taking second for the co-anglers, Scottie Smith of Clayton, North Carolina weighed in a two-day total of six-bass for 15.68-pounds. He took home $300.00 for the effort.
“I had two good boaters that had me around fish. All my fish for two days came on a spinnerbait,” said Smith.
Taking third for the co-anglers, Steven Jacobs of Sanford, North Carolina weighed in a total of six-bass for 15.31-pounds. He took home $275.00 for his catch.
“I caught a lot of fish both days,” said Jacobs. “Everything came on a spinnerbait, I just couldn’t get the bigger bite today.”
In fourth for the co-anglers Tim Gardner of Goldsboro, North Carolina weighed in two three-bass limits for 15.10-pounds and rounding out the top five, Michael Frye of Claysburg, PA, weighed in two co-angler limits weighing 14.99-pounds.
The big bass for the co-anglers was a 4.71-pounder weighed in on day one caught by Tim Gardner of Goldsboro, North Carolina. Gardner took home an additional $175.00 for the bass.

Wesley Sandifer wins on Lake Hartwell
December 16th, 2018 Anderson, SC. Twenty-four anglers launched from the Green Pond Landing near Anderson, SC. The temps started out at 43 degrees and warmed up into the low 60’s by the 3 pm weigh in time. Water temps were in the mid 50’s due to several cold rains before the tournament. Twelve of the twenty-four anglers caught a five-fish limit, but when the scales closed it was Wesley Sandifer of Chapin, SC who took the victory with 12.72lbs. For the win, Wesley took home $600 in prize money. Wesley reported catching his fish on a jig.
South Carolina Couples Cancels 12/8 Tournament
The South Carolina Couples Division 11 has canceled the 12/8 tournament scheduled for Lake Wateree. This decision has been made due to falling lake levels, the ramp and the launch site is inaccessible.
