Tripoli wins on Chautauqua Lake
ATHENS, Ala. – Donald Tripoli of Webster, NY won the American Bass Anglers Open Series NE two-day area championship, held 9/29-9/30 on Chautauqua Lake.
Running out of Mayville State Park in Mayville, NY, Tripoli caught two-day total of 32.53 pounds. He anchored his bag with a 4.81-pound kicker. For the Boater Division victory, Tripoli took home a check for $10,000.
“I fished out in front of the state park in about 8-10 feet of water with a black and blue ¾ oz. Jig. I just let it soak and moved it real slow. I fished the same place and the same thing for both days,” Tripoli said. Tripoli also won the 2017 two day championship.
In second for the boaters, Michael Nesbitt of St Paris, OH landed a two-day total weight of 30.35 pounds with a 3.68-pound kicker. He collected $700 for the effort.
“I skipped a 3/8 oz jig under docks, all the fish came out of two feet of water or less,” Nesbitt said.
Brad Brodnicki of Amherst, NY took third for the boaters with a two-day total weight of 29.42 pounds. He anchored his catch with a 4.73-pound kicker to earn $600.
“On day one I mainly fished docks all day, day two I started flipping docks in the morning and went to flipping weeds with a big black and blue flipping jig,” Brodnicki said.
Finishing fourth, Chuck Main of Ellwood City, NY caught a two-day total of 29.12 pounds. Mike Quinlin of Mooresville, IN rounded out the top five boaters with a two-day total of 28.51 pounds.
The biggest bass for the boaters was caught by Harold Miller Jr. of Washington, PA that weighed 5.55 pounds and Miller pocketed $400.
In the Co-Angler Division, John Ciavaglia of Pittsford, NY won with a two-day total of 10.51 pounds. He sealed his victory with a 4.57 -pound kicker to pocket a check for $5000.
“I caught all of my fish on a weightless Texas rigged green pumpkin senko,” Ciavaglia said.
Taking second for the co-anglers, Roland Beaulieu of Swanton, VT brought in a two-day total weighing 9.45 pounds. He collected $350 for the effort.
“I went out there and fished as hard as I could. I used a “The Deal” Ned rig and then some topwater” Beaulieu said. “
Kevin Tangeman of Chickasaw, OH placed third among the co-anglers with a two day total going 8.76 pounds to earn $300.
“I caught 4 bass all doing something different. I caught one on a jig one on a dropshot one on a weightless worm and one on a frog,” Tangeman said.
In fourth place among the co-anglers, Thomas Melanson of Waltham, MA brought in a tournament total of 8.23 pounds including a 5.00-pound kicker. Stephen Carden of Franklin, MA finished in fifth place a tournament total of 7.78 pounds.
The biggest bass for the co-anglers was caught by Donald VanTassel of South Egremont, MA that weighed 5.65 pounds and Vantassel pocketed $125.
The next tournament will be the Ray Scott Championship. At the end of the season, the best anglers from across the nation advance the 2018 Ray Scott Championship, slated for the first week of April 2019 on Lake Eufaula, AL.

Don Sprinkle Takes the win on High Rock Lake
Don Sprinkle of Lexington, NC won the Bass Pro Shops Fishing Tour Divison 14 tournament presented by American Bass Anglers. Running out of Southmont ramp near Lexington, NC. Don Sprinkle brought back five fish that locked in the scales at 13.82 pounds anchored by a 4.54-pound kicker. For the victory, Don Sprinkle took home a check for $432.00.
Treye and Carol Ward win on Kentucky Lake
The ABA Bass Pro Shops Couples Series Kentucky Lake Division experienced a very successful weekend. We had 14 teams participate. The weather was very wet and windy but the lake was cooperative and relatively smooth all day considering the conditions. All 14 teams weighed fish at the end of the day. 48 fish were caught weighing over 153 pounds. All fish were released alive and well. We paid out a total of $1,190.
McMillan Wins $2400 on Lake Okeechobee
ATHENS, Ala. – Dillon McMillan of Belle Glade, FL won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series Florida South tournament, held May 18th on the Lake Okeechobee. Running out of Scott Driver Park in Okeechobee, FL Dillon caught five bass weighing 23.03 pounds. For the Boater Division victory, McMillan took home a check for $2400 for his win.
Davis and Butler win a new Triton boat on Lake Guntersville
Sunday, May 5th, 2019 the ABA Triton 100% Plus Team Tour held its second tournament of the regular season that launched from Goosepond Bait and Tackle on Lake Guntersville located in Scottsboro, AL. Eighty-three teams went head to head, on a sunny but windy day, to try and win the 2019 Triton 17TX powered by a 60HP Mercury four-stroke with Garmin Echo-map plus 93SV valued at 20K. With a massive six-and-a-half-pound lead over 2nd place, Seth Davis and Brent Butler took the victory weighing in 5 fish for a whopping weight of 29.69 pounds.
