ATHENS, Ala. – Matt and Emily Dean won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama Division 1 tournament, held
April 21, 2018, on the Alabama River.Running out of Swift Creek in Prattville, AL, they caught 5 bass weighing 12.64 pounds. For the victory, they earned a check for $585.00. Matt won Man’s Big Fish with a 3.80-pound kicker.
In second for the 13 teams, Scott and Beth Maloch caught five bass weighing 12.43 pounds. They pocketed a check for $390.00. Beth won the Woman’s Big Fish contest with a 2.65 pounder.
Taking third place, the team of Bobby and Sandra Holman caught 5 bass weighing 11.39 pounds.
In fourth place, Donathan and Sherry Jacks caught 5 bass weighing 11.21 pounds.
Terry Durham and Ann Boatright rounded out the top five teams with 5 bass weighing 9.42 pounds.
The next divisional tournament will be May 19th on Lay Lake out of the Narrows Boat Ramp. The top angling couples from across the nation earn the right to compete in the annual American Bass Anglers Couples Series National Championship tournament.
All ABA American Couples Series events involve a team format with each team composed of one man and one woman. Contestants between the ages of 14 and 16 years old may participate with a parent’s written permission.

2019 American Fishing Tour
Athens, AL. American Bass Anglers (ABA) announced today the 2019 season for the American Fishing Tour (AFT). The tour is a draw format that offers more than seventy divisions with 600-900 tournaments per season across the eastern half of the United States. Members of ABA qualify for the year-end national championship by competing locally in a minimum of four one-day divisional qualifying events and a Divisional two-day championship.

The South Carolina Couples Division 11 has canceled the 12/8 tournament scheduled for Lake Wateree. This decision has been made due to falling lake levels, the ramp and the launch site is inaccessible.
