Mickey Beck Joins SiriusXM Team
March 20, 2018 (Athens, AL). Mickey Beck of Lebanon, TN will promote SiriusXM Marine Weather and Audio as a Pro Staff angler through the American Bass Anglers (ABA) Pro Staff program. SiriusXM is the official and exclusive Weather and Satellite Radio Sponsor of American Bass Anglers. Mickey is running a Two Rivers Ford wrapped Triton 21TrX powered by a Mercury 250 ProXS, with Four Garmin 7612xsv units. His boat will also be fitted with T-H Marine accessories. Mickey was the first to win T-H Marine Atlas Awards Grand Slam contingency in 2016. In 2018, Mickey will compete in multiple divisions in the Open Series, Triton Boats 100% Team Tour and American Fishing Tour.
“When I fish the big waters like Kentucky Lake, summer storms and wind are big factors affecting where and when I can fish. SiriusXM Marine Weather allows me to quickly track wind speed, direction, barometric pressure and monitor approaching storms with its detailed overlay of weather on my 12” Garmin GPS lake map displays,” said Beck. “SiriusXM Weather helps me make much better tournament decisions.”
“Everyone knows that cell signal can be very spotty on many lakes,” Beck continued. “Adding SiriusXM Marine Weather using GPS eliminates my blind weather spots. I also love the fact that when I’m fishing in the rain, I can track storms easily on my weatherproof Garmin units. My cell phone isn’t weatherproof and it never has a signal on the south end of Kentucky Lake.”
“I already have tomorrow’s technology with my Garmin units, and the addition of SiriusXM gives me some great features. I love to listen to SiriusXM’s excellent programming – music, sports and more - to pass the time when I am scanning ledges 8 to 10 hours a day,” added Mickey. “I’ve loved SiriusXM Marine Weather and entertainment since way before I became a paid ambassador for their great services.”
Mickey served in the Army with the 101st Airborne Assault Division with attachment to 501st signal battalion supporting the 311th military intelligence group. Today, Mickey owns and operates multiple information technology companies including MickTel LLC, which is one of the largest hospitality telecommunication solutions providers in the country. Mickey holds a number of patents and is always working on ideas to help his business partners. Mickey’s fishing skills won him a 2016 Open Series event on Old Hickory Lake, banking almost $20,000 in winnings and ABA sponsor contingencies, and he has many top 5 and top 10 finishes over the last 10 years.
“Mickey is one of the anglers that are just fun to be around. He is a very serious angler but knows how to have fun while competing at a higher level,” said Deacon Collins, ABA Pro Staff Director. “Mickey has worked with us (ABA) on other sponsor projects and has always been very professional and provided a great asset to the company he is working with. He will be a great addition to the SiriusXM Marine Pro Staff Team.”
