Kevin Thomas Takes Win on High Rock
Athens, Al - Kevin Thomas won the RAM American Fishing Tour division 14 Championship on High Rock Lake in Lexington, NC with five fish weighing 8.06 pounds held on Nov 4, 2017.
Kevin Thomas of Indian Trail, NC is one step closer to the RAM American Fishing Tour National Championship with a first place win on High Rock this past weekend. Thomas weighed in five bass, which weighed 8.06 pounds. Second place went to Jack Fraser of Rock Hill, SC with three bass weighing 6.80 pounds.
There was a significant weather change on Saturday that seemed to put the fish in a foul mood. Several anglers were reporting a good bite earlier in the week with the unseasonably warm stable weather. Even with mostly cloudy skies, the potential for rain and cooler temperatures, expectations were high going into the day, but with only one limit weighed in many were left scratching their heads, wondering where the aggressive fish they had found in practice went.
The winning pattern came shallow cranking. Kevin reported catching good numbers of fish in practice on a jig, but the conditions changed and he had to adjust to a crank bait to get the occasional reaction bite, and grind out a limit. Congratulations Kevin!
Division 14 will take a winter break and pick up again in March. Our next event will be on Badin Lake out of Circle Drive Access on March 3rd, 2018.
