“We had a tough practice the first two days, not catching anything. On Friday, we caught six keepers. We caught twelve keepers during the tournament and all but one came on an Evergreen top water bait. I have to give my partner Ed the credit because he has been here before. I wanted to thank Blue and Gray Marine for getting my Triton Boat ready and Competitive Edge Custom Lures out of Dickson, TN for the special paint jobs they do on our lures”, said Singleton.
Taking second place was the team of Eric Phillips and Tim Cornelius. On Day One they brought in a five-fish limit that locked in the scales at 15.47 pounds. On Day Two, they managed to land another five-fish limit that weighed 17.13 pounds, sealing their second-place finish. Their final weight total of 32.60 pounds earned them $2000.
“I had never been here before, but my partner has. We caught a lot of fish during the two days of the tournament. All of our fish came on a shaky head using a weenie worm”, said Phillips.
Third place was claimed by the team of David Gnewikow and Kevin Woodside. They finished Day One strong with a five-fish limit that went for 16.59 pounds. Day Two they brought back another five-fish limit that locked in at 10.90 pounds. It was still enough to lock in their third place finish with a two-day total weight of 27.90 pounds. They took home $1500 for third place and an additional $750 from the High Stakes Option Pot.
“We have never spent any time here and we were on a tough bite during practice, but when we caught one, it was a good fish. We caught ten keepers in two days using a Strike King Sexy Dawg and a Strike King Rage Hawg”, said Gnewikow.
The team of Jamie Shay and Jeff Knight and the team of Hensley Powell and Robbie Dickerson tied for fourth place with a two-day total weight 26.87 pounds.
