Richard Bates takes Chickahominy River win.
The Virginia division 13 of the American Fishing Tour kicked off the Memorial Day weekend with a qualifying event on the Chickahominy River. After a turbulent week of recurring thunderstorms and heavy rain the weather decided to cooperate with a beautiful blue bird day, very high tides and some rather impressive results for most of the field. 20 of the 26 anglers that fished the event brought in a limit of fish!
On top of the field today, Richard Bates had a great day fishing a dead-sticked Senko along pad lines in the creeks. His 17.73 pound creel secured the win for him.
Big fish honors went to James Funk with a 7.12 pound Chickahominy River lunker that could not resist a buzz bait early in the morning.
Our next event is June 10 at Kerr Lake. Follow the Virginia Division on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1105353286201232/
