Secret and Cory York win on Kentucky Lake
The fishing was exceptional on Kentucky Lake this weekend. Thirteen teams, our largest turnout to date, participated this Sunday and the results were outstanding. The fish are making their way to those famous Kentucky Lake ledges and many of our competitors were able to locate them. We had 49 bass weighed for a total of 157.71 pounds. We paid out over $1,000 for the top 3 finishers and the 2 big fish pools.
Secret and Cory York (mother and son team) took first place with a 5 fish limit of 22.51 pounds. They dominated the Big Bass Pool also, as Secret took the Ladies with a 5.07 big fish, while Cory had a 6.00 to take the Men’s big fish. They caught their fish deep on main lake ledges using large worms and the "Babe" swim baits. For their efforts they took home a total of $630, $500 for 1st place and $65 each for the big fish pools.
Robert and Cindy Linton took 2nd place with another 5 fish limit of 19.04 pounds. Their weight was anchored by Cindy’s 4.99 big bass. Robert and Cindy were fishing secondary ledges with big worms. They were in receipt of $325 for their day’s work.
Third place went to Jay and Shari Holsapple with another 5 fish limit of 18.44 pounds. Fishing jigs and large worms on ledges at the mouths of bays, they caught over 20 keepers throughout the day. Every fish in the 4 pound class. Jay and Shari earned $150 for their performance.
The points race is tight, as Jay and Shari claimed sole possession of the point standings lead for the Kentucky Lake Division with their achievement. Congratulations to them!
Scott and Brandi Vanover took 4th place with 5 fish weighing 16.08 pounds.
5th place was taken by Jarrod and Tammy Easley with 4 fish weighing 15.13 pounds.
Sam Gotsch and Michelle Chinn finished 6th with a 5 fish total of 14.75 pounds.
This was the first tournament with our division for these three teams: Scott and Brandi Vanover, Jarrod and Tammy Easley, and Sam Gotsch/Michelle Chinn. Sam and Michelle are also new members to ABA. We extend a heartfelt welcome to all our newcomers and hope they return for many more tournaments.
There were drinks and snacks at the weigh-in. Joe and Tracy Zalewski, along with Jamie and Angela Gordon were the lucky draw winners of non-cash prizes. We will be giving away much more in future tournaments, with some great prizes available at the last tournament of the season for those fishing at least 4 of our 6 events.
Our next tournament will be held on Kentucky Lake at the Paris Landing ramp on June 25th. Remember to bring your G-Juice and/or Rejuvenate and some ice for the livewells. The water temperature will be rising and many fish will be caught deep. Fish are easily stressed and die during these conditions. We will launch at 6:00 AM and weigh-in at 2:00 PM. We will be at the ramp for boat check and late registrations at 5:15 AM.
