Lake Hartwell Victory for Sherry Farrow and Sean Hall
It was a beautiful spring day on Lake Hartwell for the South Carolina Couples on Saturday, March 25. Twenty-five teams enjoyed the outdoors, fellowship and some good angling. 115 bass were brought to the scales with 100% released to catch another day.
Sherry Farrow and Sean Hall claimed first place with a five-fish sack weighing 15 pounds. Their success started early with spinnerbaits around schooling fish. They caught some nice fish sight-fishing later in the day using Scotty Bartley’s Weeble Lure jigs that Sean was given that morning. Sherry and Sean said this was clearly the best day of bass fishing they’d had in a very long time.
In second place was the team of Lynn and Steve Moeller with a limit weighing 14.44 pounds. They had a limit within the first hour of fishing from a small exposed island. Their biggest fish came on a swim-bait. But, they also used a spinnerbait, shakey-head and drop-shot to round out their five best fish during the day.
Michelle and Toby Keisler were close behind in third place with 14.38 pounds. Toby’s 4-pounder claimed Men’s Big Bass. All of their fish were caught sight-fishing.
Missy and Tom Bancroft got forth place with 12.8 pounds. They had a nice fish caught with a crankbait, while most of their 5-fish sack came sight-fishing.
Victoria and Dale Goff were fifth with five fish at 12.7 pounds. Dale described their approach as “junk fishing up river in dirty water.”
Susan Mills took Ladies Big Bass honors with a hefty 4-pounder. This fish fell victim to a “long cast to a bed” while Susan and John Mills were sight fishing.
Welcome to two new teams:
- Yvonne Gustafson and Buddy Siddall from Cumming, Georgia
- Brianna and Brady Kimbrell from Piedmont, South Carolina
A twenty-five team turn-out allowed for a paycheck for the top 5 teams plus Susan Mills’ Big Bass. There were also 9 drawing prizes for those folks that didn’t get prize money. Strickland Marine’s 3 gallons of Mercury oil were appreciated. Cabelas provided a TH Marine Hydrawave. Jervey Eye Group gave a nice pair of Maui Jim sun glasses. Yeti provided an ice block with 2 handsome hats. Yo-Zuri contributed a prize pack of line and lures. Scotty Bartley donated two gift packs of Weeble T-shirts and jigs. Several tubes of Mary Kay hand lotion, contributed by Dana McGahee, were also snapped up.
