Robertson Dominates on Kentucky Lake

Matthew Robertson of Kuttawa, Kentucky won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series Kentucky tournament, held March 18, 2017 at Lake Kentucky Lake. Running out of Moors Resort in Gilbertsville, KY, Robertson caught five bass weighing 33.55 pounds with a 7.95 - pound kicker. He took home $5,000 for his efforts.

“I caught my fish today using a Strike King KVD Jerkbait and a Booyah one knocker. I caught a few of my fish earlier and it slacked off a bit so I headed south and got lucky. I was fishing in about 6 feet of water today,” Robertson said. 

In second for the Boaters, Drew Boggs of Lebanon, Tennessee. He landed a five-bass tournament limit going 23.97 pounds. He collected $800 for the effort. “I caught three of my bass using a redeye shad. I caught the other two flipping a Jingo Jiggy Weight with a tube crawl. I was fishing shallow and caught my fish by 9:30 this morning,” stated Boggs.

Troy Hollowell of Paducah, Kentucky took third for the Boaters with five bass going 23.43 pounds taking home $600. “I threw a swim jig and a jigging spoon today to catch my fish.  I caught my fish really early and then it slacked off a bit until about an hour before weigh in,” said Hollowell.
  
Billy Schroeder of Paducah, Kentucky took fourth place with a weight of 19.09 pounds.

David Gnewikow of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee took fifth with a five bass limit going 18.71 pounds.

The biggest bass for the Boaters was caught by Matthew Robertson that weighed 7.95 pounds and pocketed $530.

In the Co-Angler Division, Kirk Lafferty of Columbia, Tennessee won with three bass going 12.53 pounds. He sealed his victory with a 5.50-pound kicker to pocket a check for $1,200.

“I used a greenpumpkin swimjig. I caught them in about 20 feet of water. I caught them around midday and caught about 10 keepers,” stated Lafferty. 

Taking second for the Co-Anglers, Todd House of Hawesville, Kentucky brought in a three-bass division limit weighing 12.13 pounds including a 5.58-pound kicker. He collected $400 for the effort. “I caught my fish today using a Strike King KVD Jerkbait in about 15 feet of water. I caught my biggest fish at the start of the tournament and thought it was going to be a good day, but I only caught three fish all day,” House said.  

Todd Mowery of Munford, Tennessee placed third among the Co-Anglers with three bass going 10.88 pounds and earned $350. “I caught my fish pretty early in the day. I was using a red rattletrap and was able to cull a few times,” Mowery stated. 

In fourth place among the Co-Anglers, Tim Rampaul of Burns, Tennessee brought in three bass for 10.72 pounds.

Ethan Futrell of Cadiz, Kentucky finished in fifth place with three bass at 9.94 pounds.

The biggest bass for the Co-Anglers was caught by Robert Henze that weighed 7.27 pounds and pocketed $185.

Slated for April 15, 2017 the next divisional tournament will be held on Kentucky Lake launching out of Moors Resort in Gilbertsville, KY. At the end of the season, the best anglers from across the nation advance the 2018 Ray Scott Championship.
