Ann and Ben Lee Win on Lake Murray
Thirty-two South Carolina Couples launched from Lake Murray’s Lighthouse Marina on March 4th. It was a cold and crisp 30 degree winter morning. Nature provided a pleasant 65 degree afternoon for weigh-in. All of the 111 bass brought to the scales were released alive, healthy and happy. The great turn-out provided the opportunity to pay 6 places. Ann and Ben Lee of Lexington, South Carolina claimed first place with a hefty 20.4 pound sack. Anchoring their 5-fish bag was Ben’s 7.1 pound Men’s Big Fish. They caught their fish flipping a jig to docks and wood.
April and Gary Michaud took second place with 5 bass at 19.3 pounds. Their fish were caught tossing brown jigs to docks.
Victoria and Dale Goff claimed third place with 18.3 pounds. Victoria’s 6.10 pound Ladies Big Fish grounded their solid limit. Their technique was casting baby brush hogs on banks between docks.
Lisa and Clint Harrington got forth place with 16.94 pounds. Sight fishing with a jig and shakey-head led to their hefty limit. Amanda and Vince Smith were also sight fishing for their fifth place 16.1 pound bag. Susan and John Mills used shakey-heads around docks for their sixth place 16 pound limit.

The group “feasted” on grilled hot dog and chips after weigh-in and drawing prizes.
Special recognition goes to folks that pitched in for this and other tournaments. Missy and Tom Bancroft brought plenty of chips while Tom was our “grill master.” Amanda and Vince Smith also dove into the food preparation. Tammy and J.B. Wicker, Donna and John Branstetter and Tricia and Bill Cain all brought “goodies” to share. Appreciation to Steve Moeller for his work to manage the parking lot at zero-dark-thirty in the morning. Great photography by Brooke Mattison and David Chapman. And, thanks to Susan and John Mills for their continued efforts supporting registration and weigh-in. Super job by all! It really does take teamwork to handle our growing South Carolina division.
Local sponsors provided the opportunity for more folks to go home with a prize. Cabela’s provided a neat fire-pit for the drawing. Strickland Marine provided 3 gallons of Mercury Optimax Oil. Yeti gave a “cool” rambler. Bonefish Grill contributed a $25 gift certificate. Scotty Bartley’s Weeble Lures provided 2 sharp gift packs of shirts and jigs.
