Theis Wins on Tar River

Jason Theis of Hubert, North Carolina took the win for the AFT D15 event held on August 13th on Tar River. Jason caught five bass weighing 12.35 pounds. Jason took home a check for $432 for first place. Bass Boat Instant Shine for Capt. Gary’s, and $84 for the TWT 1st place, all totaling $516.

In second among the competitors, Steve Bishop of Goldsboro, North Carolina caught five bass weighing 11.41 pounds. Steve pocketed a check for $223 for second place, $36 for TWT 2nd place, and Fisherman’s Hand Cleaner for Capt. Gary’s for a total of $259.

Taking third place, James Sheehan of East Over, North Carolina caught five bass weighing 11.16 pounds.James received a check for $79. 

In fourth place, Curtis Leggett of Snow Hill, North Carolina caught four bass weighing 9.92 pounds. Curtis also had the Big Bass of the event weighing 5.42 pounds. Curtis pocketed a check for $140 for Big Bass and a gift card for $15 form E-Z Bait and Tackle. 

Danny Flynn of Bethel, North Carolina rounded out the top five competitors with five bass weighing 8.87 pounds. All 15 anglers received a gift of bait from Deep Creek Lures.

The next tournament will be the D15 Divisional Championship scheduled for August 27th and 28th on Tar River in Washington, NC. Any anglers that have fished at least four 1-day qualifying events are eligible to fish this tournament. These anglers are earning valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual Ram American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of the Year Final Round at the Ram American Fishing Tour National Championship.
