Kim Neal Wins Ram AFT D25 Championship and AOY Title
Ten anglers participated in the Ram American Fishing Tour D25 Two-Day Divisional Championship on Lake Hartwell. The weather for Saturday was in the lower 80’s, bright sunshine and 20mph+ winds making it difficult to fish anywhere on the lake. Sunday brought calmer winds, bright sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70’s. The main lake was clear with the creeks having some slightly stained water. Fishing was tough due to the post spawn bite that is happening on the lake. However, someone always figures out how to catch them.
Kim Neal of Easley, SC took the win with a 10 fish limit weighing 21 pounds worth $674 + 1st Place option pot of $54 for a total of $728.
Mike Strickland of Watkinsville, GA finished in second place with a 10 fish limit weighing 19.63 pounds worth $306 + 2nd Place option pot of $36 for a total of $342.
Don Kneece of Saluda, SC came in third with a 10 fish limit weighing 19 pounds. Don won Day One Big Fish pot with a 4.79 pound largemouth worth $50. Day Two Big Fish pot was won by Grover Jones of Starr, SC with a 4.14 pound largemouth worth $50. Everyone reported catching some fish fishing the shad spawning areas with Top Water lures, Spinnerbaits and Crankbaits.
Kim Neal also won the D25 AOY and will be representing D25 at the Ram American Fishing Tour Championship in October. Congratulations Kim as I know you will represent D25 well on Lake Eufaula in Alabama. I would like to say thanks to all the anglers that came out and participated this year and I am looking forward to the 2017 season starting in September.
