Wright Wins High Rock Event
David J. Wright of Lexington, NC won the North Carolina Division Ram Truck Open Series event at High Rock Lake on May 7, 2016. Wright weighed in a 16.33 pound limit to win $5000. “I was fishing down a bank with a Zoom Fluke Stick in about 1-2 feet of water, really shallow,” said Wright.
Douglas Young of Salisbury, NC finished in second place with 15.92 pounds at the High Rock event winning $1351. “I was throwing a Senko in shallow water, fishing bushes and trees. The good Lord shined down on me today,” said Young.
Third place at the Badin event went to Rodney Bell of Salisbury, NC with 15.77 pounds winning $901. “Most of my fish came on a Senko in less than two feet of water,” said Bell.
Brandon Gardner of Salisbury, NC caught the 5.21 pound Boater Big Bass of the event to win total of $1065 for sixth place and the Big Bass Pot. Gardner used an Abu Garcia reel to catch his Big Bass and was awarded a new Abu Garcia Revo SX reel valued at $159.99 through the Abu Garcia Revo Big Bass Bonus program.

Marvin R. Godard of Charlotte, NC was the co-angler champion of the Ram Truck Open Series event held on May 7, 2016 at High Rock Lake. Godard’s 10.96 pound limit was anchored by the day’s Co-angler Big Bass, a 5.19 pound largemouth. He won a total of $2125 for his day’s catch. “I caught my fish to day in very shallow, dirty water. I was using a jig and green pumpkin soft plastics,” said Godard.
Scott E. Plattenberger of Concord, NC finished in second place on the co-angler side with 8.67 pounds to win $614. “It was tough and I only caught three fish all day long. Everything came on soft plastics,” said Plattenberger.
Hunter C. Harwell of Hickory, NC brought in 8.16 pounds to finish in third place and win $409. “We caught our fish shallow, flipping all day in less than three feet of water with soft plastics,” said Harwell.

Ram Truck Open Series anglers can take advantage of the “no boat on boat draw” format along with huge payouts for the 2016 season. First place boaters can win a guaranteed $5000 first place, regardless of number of entries. Payouts will increase to $6000 for the first place boater with a 100 boat field. Over the course of four divisional events and the area championship, anglers will be competing for a spot in the 2017 Ray Scott Championship.

R. V. Mann Jr. wins on Lake Gaston
R. V. Mann Jr., of Whitkers, North Carolina won the AFT Division 17, North Carolina Central tournament on Lake Gaston. The event was held on Lake Gaston on 17 November 2018, launching out of Salmon Landing (Little Stonehouse Creek) off of 903 in Littleton, North Carolina. It was a tough day of fishing starting off in the lower 30’s, warming to around 55 in the afternoon.
Kerry and Heather Wilson win on Lake Jordan
ATHENS, Ala. – Kerry and Heather Wilson won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama Division 1 tournament, held November 10, 2018, on Lake Jordan. Running out of the Bonnor’s Landing, the team caught 5-bass weighing 10.31-pounds. For the victory, they earned a check for $405.00. The Wilson’s caught their fish on swim jigs.
