Salute to a Longtime Friend Toby Hicks
Toby Hicks passed away Saturday, April 10 after a battle with cancer. Toby has been a part of American Bass Anglers since its beginning and previously with MBAA. Toby was both a tournament director and a state director in Northeast Georgia.
In 2006, Toby was inducted into the American Bass Anglers Hall of Fame for his years of dedication to the organization, members and the industry.
Toby always had the great desire to bring more people and especially young people into the sport of bass fishing. There are so many anglers throughout the ABA and MBAA that were introduced to the sport and the organization by Toby.
Toby’s calm, supportive demeanor is one all could strive to achieve as his life was that of a true sportsman who cared deeply about his fellow anglers and the sport.
On any given Saturday, you could find Toby at an ABA tournament and he would express that “I’m just glad to be here”. You would find Toby not at just his events, but at ABA tournaments all over he would travel and support other divisions with equal enthusiasm.
Visitation for Toby will be this evening from 6 – 8pm at Strickland Funeral Home, 305 Cleveland Avenue, Hartwell, GA. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2pm at Strickland Funeral Home.
