Kremer Wins at Harris Chain
John Kremer of Sanford, FL won the Florida Division Ram Truck Open Series event at the Harris Chain of Lakes on March 12, 2016. Kremer brought in a 25.34 pound bag of Harris Chain bass to win $5000. “I caught three right away this morning and I think they were spawning, because they were in the grass. I was flipping a four inch Culprit craw and pretty much stayed in that area all day. They were all in a couple hundred yard stretch of grass. I caught my biggest one about 11:00,” said Kremer.
Eric Conant of Lakeland, FL finished in second place with 24.04 pounds at the Harris Chain event winning $1551. “I was fishing some scattered eel grass in a little staging area. They seemed to be pulling up in the middle of the day, so I really wasn’t targeting spawners. I didn’t have very many bites, probably only 8-10 bites all day,” said Contant.
Third place at the Harris Chain event went to Tommy Hatfield of Kissimmee, FL with 21.44 pounds winning $1034. Hatfield also took boater Big Bass honors with a 7.96 pounder earning an additional $770 from the Big Bass Pot. “I actually had a limit around 8:30-9:00 this morning. We just kept milling around in the same area, flipping a Senko around pads. I was using fluorocarbon, because I couldn’t get the bites on braid. We had to wait for a boat to leave before I could get to the back of the area and that’s where I caught my Big Bass. I realized we had been in the same spot several hours without cranking my outboard, so we ran down the lake to charge the battery. Once we got back, I caught one about seven pounds,” said Hatfield.
