Derrell Parker Takes First Place at Lake Weiss

From Division 88, Alabama East/Central, Derrell Parker is one step closer to the Ram AFT National Championship with a first place win in the Ram American Fishing Tour bass tournament held at Lake Weiss on October 31, 2015. Derrell was encouraged to participate in this, his first ABA tournament. He joined at the ramp and dusted the competition. Derrell caught his fish using a vibrating style jig near rocks. Second place winner, Jamey Collette, reported a hard head jig cranked along riprap was his key to success. Big Bass was awarded to Joel Etheredge for catching a 4.54 pound largemouth using a beaver style bait flipped to wood.

These anglers are acquiring valuable points to ensure their birth in this division’s two-day championship and the Ram American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held next October at Lake Eufaula, AL. Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.

The top three anglers were:
1. Derrell  Parker         15.36 lbs.
2. Jamey Collette        13.56lbs.
3. Doug Orazine          13.48lbs

Conditions:  The day was overcast with periods of rain. Waters temps around 68 degrees. The water was slightly stained and calm. Wind was gusty.

Next Divisional Tournament: Division 88's next tournament will be November 21, 2015 on Neely Henry in Gadsden, AL.

For more information on this or any future event in this division, contact Doug Orazine at (256) 910-6694.

The Ram American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the Ram American Fishing Tour National Championship.
