Jason Martinelli Wins on Candlewood
Jason Martinell from Roxbury Connecticut won the RAM American Fishing Tour presented by American Bass Anglers, Connecticut Division 6 tournament, held on Candlewood Lake.
Running out of the Lattins Cove landing near the town of Danbury, Jason caught his limit of five bass weighing 12.11 pounds. Jason said he caught a couple of his keepers on topwater with the remaining fish being taken on plastics with a light weight in deeper water weed line edges. For the victory, Jason took home a check for $249.00.
In second among the competitors, Pete Byrnes from Long Island, NY caught a five bass weighing 10.97 pounds. Pete didn't indicate what he caught his fish on and this is the second tournament he has finished in the money. He pocketed a check for $94.00.
Taking third place, Tom Sweeney of Glastonbury, CT also caught five bass weighing 10.98 pounds, but unfortunately two of his fish perished and the one pound penalty cost him an overall second place finish.
In fourth place, Gary McClarran of Stafford Springs, CT caught three fish for 7.09 and one of those fish turned out to be a nice 3.87 smallmouth resulting in the big fish of tournament.

These anglers accrued valuable points toward the Divisional Angler of the Year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round at the RAM AFT Championship. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, RAM AFT National Championship tournament. The RAM American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points.
