Maze Takes the Win and Big Bass HonorsByran Maze of Lamar, MO, is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with his 1st place win and earnings totaling $712 in the American Fishing Tournament held on the Stockton Lake May 30, 2015. Maze brought in a five-bass limit that weighed 15.23 lbs and was anchored by Big Bass of the tournament, a hawg, that went 7.03 lbs. Second place went to another Lamar angler, Jim Banks, who also had a five-bass limit, his weighing 11.36 lbs. Mike Carter of Raytown, MO took 3rd place with 10.31 lbs; 4th place was Tony French of Ft. Scott, KS with a five-bass limit weighing 10.25 lbs.Also attending this tournament were eight active duty soldiers based at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. The soldiers were presented a rod/reel combo donated by Lews and paired with an ABA angler just before launch. They competed among themselves for the heaviest weight. Devin Mervine (partner of Eric Craft) took 1st place; 2nd place was Steven Hooper and 3rd place went to James Cowherd. Hooper fished with Jim Banks and Cowherd partnered with Joey Wyatt.Launch time saw low 60’s air temperature and about 70⁰ water temperature. Skies were overcast most of the day with a couple of very light showers. The wind changed from south to northwest and came in 10-15 minutes spurts. Fish were reported caught on top-water, crank baits, and soft plastic; the 7 lber was caught on “isolated rock using a beaver bait.”The next D126 tournament is scheduled for June 13, 2015 on Stockton Lake launching out of Hartley Ramp. R. V. Mann Jr. wins on Lake Gaston
R. V. Mann Jr., of Whitkers, North Carolina won the AFT Division 17, North Carolina Central tournament on Lake Gaston. The event was held on Lake Gaston on 17 November 2018, launching out of Salmon Landing (Little Stonehouse Creek) off of 903 in Littleton, North Carolina. It was a tough day of fishing starting off in the lower 30’s, warming to around 55 in the afternoon.
Kerry and Heather Wilson win on Lake Jordan
ATHENS, Ala. – Kerry and Heather Wilson won the American Couples Series, operated by American Bass Anglers, Central Alabama Division 1 tournament, held November 10, 2018, on Lake Jordan. Running out of the Bonnor’s Landing, the team caught 5-bass weighing 10.31-pounds. For the victory, they earned a check for $405.00. The Wilson’s caught their fish on swim jigs.
