Stephens Uses Livescope To Win At Lake Norman MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Michael D. Stephens used his Garmin electronics to find the winning weight in the Boater Division during the American Bass Anglers Open Series, Presented by Caymas Boats, North Carolina Division 5 season opener, held Feb. 5, 2022, at Lake Norman. Launching at the Pinnacle Wildlife access ramp in Mooresville to fish the 32,475-acre impoundment on the Catawba River, the Gastonia, N.C. angler brought in a five-bass tournament limit going 17.06 pounds. He set the standard for the day with a 3.41-pound average. |
North Carolina Opens Season On Lake Norman ATHENS, Ala. – North Carolina Division 5 of the American Bass Anglers Open Series, Presented by Caymas Boats, will open its new season on Feb. 5, 2022, at Lake Norman in Mooresville. The anglers will run out of the Pinnacle Wildlife access ramp, located at 1556 River Highway (Highway 150) in Mooresville to fish the 32,475-acre impoundment on the Catawba River. The tournament venue docks and launch ramps as well as the Skimmer wall and over the Skimmer wall will be off-limits to tournament competitors. |
Jodon Takes The Win on Kerr Lake ATHENS, Al. – Jesse Jodon of Windber PA, won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series event held on Kerr Lake on 6/12/21. Running out of Nutbush Park in Henderson NC, Jodon weighed in a five bass limit weighing 18.49 pounds. His limit was anchored by a bass weighing 4.58 pounds. Jodon took home $1800.00 for the win. |
Nix Takes The Win On Lake Wylie ATHENS, Al. – Andy Nix of Thomasville NC, won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series event on Lake Wylie. Running out of South Point Wildlife access in Belmont NC, Nix weighed in a five bass limit weighing 12.22 pounds. Nix took home $2200.00 for the win. |
North Carolina Open Series Division Heads to Lake Wylie ATHENS, Al. – The North Carolina Division of the American Bass Anglers Open Series presented by Bass Pro Shops will hold its second event of the season on 3/27/21 on Lake Wylie just Southwest of Charlotte launching from South Point, Belmont NC. Situated on the state lines between North and South Carolina, Lake Wylie spans 13,400 acres and should be at full pool at tournament time with water temperatures in the low to mid 50s. |
McClung Takes The Win On Lake Norman ATHENS, Al. – Phillip McClung of Salisbury NC, won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series season opener on Lake Norman on 2/27/21. Running out of Pinnacle Wildlife Access in Mooresville NC, McClung weighed in a five bass limit weighing 13.53 pounds. McClung took home $2500.00 for the win. Also being in the Triton Gold program he qualified for contingency monies from Triton. |

Poteat Takes the Win on Lake Norman Chad Poteat of Mt. Airy, NC won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series event held on Lake Norman on 8/15/20. Running out of Pinnacle Wildlife Access Area Poteat weighed in five bass weighing 11.20 pounds. His limit was anchored by a bass weighing 5.42 lbs. which was the largest bass weighed in by a boater. Poteat took home $2550.00 for his win. |

Carolina High Rock Lake Double Header June 15, 2020, Athens, AL. June 20 and 21 ABA and Bass Pro Shops will host a doubleheader weekend on High Rock Lake out of Salisbury, NC. The second and third tournaments for the Bass Pro Shops Open Series North Carolina Division will be held. Both events will launch from Tamarac Marina, 9120 Bringle Ferry Road Salisbury NC 28146. Last June, Kevin Chandler of New London, NC won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series event held on High Rock Lake on 6/15/19. Chandler weighed in a five-bass limit weighing 23.00 pounds. His limit was anchored by a bass weighing 5.23 pounds. |
Freeze Wins North Carolina Season Opener On Lake Norman ATHENS, Al. – Maurice Freeze of Concord, NC, won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series event held on Lake Norman 3/14/20. Running out of Pinnacle Wildlife Access, Freeze weighed in a five bass limit weighing 12.93 pounds. His catch was anchored by a bass weighing 5.18 pounds which was the biggest bass weighed in by a boater. Being in the Berkley Cast for Cash program Freeze took home an additional $250.00 from Berkley for a total of $3280.00 for his catch. |
