James Laramore Take the Open Series win on Sam Rayburn
Athens, Al. – James Laramore of Vidor, TX took the win in South Texas Division of the American Bass Anglers Open Series Tournament held March 28, 2021 on Sam Rayburn Launching out of Cassels Boykin Park in Zavallam Tx James brought back five fish to the scales that locked in for 22.50-lbs. “I was throwing a chatterbait around shallow hydrilla. I caught them all day and culled up three or four times,” said Laramore
Steve Phillips Wins On Rayburn
Athens, AL., Steve Phillips of Diboll, TX won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series South Texas opener on Sam Rayburn held this past Saturday, January 30th. Phillips brought in a five-fish limit that weighed 20.13 pounds, and his largest bass was 7.06 pounds. For winning the event, Phillips won $5,000 plus another $640 for the biggest bass.
Mark Hooker Wins Day 1 of Sam Rayburn Double Header
Mark Hooker of Montgomery, TX won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series South Texas tournament, held June 20th on Big Sam Rayburn. Running out of the Umphrey Family Pavilion in Brookeland, TX, Mark caught five-bass weighing 17.25-pounds. Mark also took home big bass honors in the boater division weighing 6.39 lbs.
Clay Phillips on Top of Day2 at Sam Rayburn Double Header
ATHENS, Ala. – Clay Phillips of Huntington, TX won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series South Texas tournament, held June 21st on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Running out of the Umphrey Family Pavilion in Brookeland, TX, Clay caught five-bass weighing 19.16-pounds.
Sam Rayburn Double Header
June 15, 2020, Athens, AL. June 20 and 21 ABA and Bass Pro Shops will host a doubleheader weekend on Lake Sam Rayburn out of in Brookeland, TX. The second and third tournaments for the Bass Pro Shops Open Series Southeast Texas Division will be held. Both events will launch from Umphrey Pavilion, County Road 255, Brookeland, TX, 75951.
Louisiana angler David Beason of Evans LA Won the first event on Rayburn this season with an impressive 29.90 pounds limit with a 8.74 big bass kicker. David Banked $5,200 for the win.
Sam Rayburn, The King of Texas
David Beason of Evans, LA won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series South Texas tournament, held January 18th on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Running out of Cassel’s Boykin Park, David caught five-bass weighing 29.90 lbs. With 74 anglers in the field, David took home a check for $5200.00
Division 10 Heads to Sam Rayburn
ATHENS, Ala. – The South East Texas division of the Bass Pro Shops Open Series will hold its final one-day event of the 2019 season on September 14th in Brookeland, TX on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. The competitors will launch at Umphrey Family Pavilion, Located at 3967 Recreation Rd 255, Brookeland, TX. Anglers will begin fishing at safe light with the weigh-in starting at 3 p.m. Onsite registration and check-in will be from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM Friday, September 13th at the Umphrey Pavilion.
Summer Heat Produces Numbers on Sam Rayburn
ATHENS, Ala. – Todd Driscoll of Jasper, TX won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series South Texas tournament, held June 29th on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Running out of the Umphrey Pavilion, Todd caught five-bass weighing 19.58 lbs. With 81 anglers in the field, Todd took home a check for $5500.00 in a very close finish at the top of the leader board. Even in the summer heat, Sam Rayburn shows why it's one of the best fisheries in the south. With 138 anglers in the field, (Boater and Co-Anglers) 513 bass were brought to the scales in all, combining for a total weight of 1,323 lbs! The weather had been warm and humid leading up to Saturday, but cloudy skies prevailed and a rainy overcast day set the tone for the event. The boats left the ramp at 0545

ATHENS, Ala. – Ricky Guy of Moody, AL won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series South Texas tournament, held March 23rd on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Running out of Cassel’s Boykin Park, Ricky caught five-bass weighing 21.42-lbs. With 88 anglers in the field, Ricky took home a check for $5500.00

ATHENS, AL. – Chris Lewis of Longview, TX won the Bass Pro Shops Open Series Southeast Texas tournament, held February 23rd on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Running out of the Umphrey Family Pavilion, Lewis caught five-bass weighing 26.77-lbs. With 90 anglers in the field, Chris will be cashing a check for $5500.00
Southeast Texas Opener on Sam Rayburn
ATHENS, Ala. – The South Texas Division of the 2019 Bass Pro Shops Open Series presented by American Bass Anglers will open the season on February 23, 2019, on Sam Rayburn.
The lake has consumed all Mother Nature threw at her in January. The banks are swollen with record high water levels, but she is recovering and recovering well with bag weights already busting over 34 lbs. With numerous ramp locations remaining closed, we have recently learned that some have opened for business and we will be returning to the Umphrey Family Pavilion for this first tournament of the season. Located at 3967 Recreation Rd 255, Brookeland, TX the Umphrey Family Pavilion is waiting for our return.
Lawson Takes Round 3 at Sam Rayburn
ATHENS, Ala. – Jason Lawson of Corrigan, TX won the American Bass Anglers Open Series Texas East Division, held June 9th at Sam Rayburn. Running from the Umphrey Pavilion near Brookeland, TX, the field of 71 boats and 66 co-anglers left at 5:45 AM with calm and still waters. For the boaters, 14 places took home a check with 13 co-anglers taking home earnings as well. The direct sun with little wind overall added extra heat to the day, but the anglers managed to bring through some quality fish to the scales.
Jason Lawson took the top prize home for the boater side with five fish weighing in at a total of 24.11 lbs, held down with a 5.96-pound anchor. With just over two pounds separating him from the runner-up, Lawson managed to take home the check for $5000.
Collins Chases More Triton Gold
ATHENS, Ala. – Albert Collins of Nacogdoches, TX won the American Bass Anglers Ram Truck Open Series Texas East Division, held April 28th at Sam Rayburn.
Running out of Brookeland, TX, the weather had been brutal for the last 5 weeks and mother nature finally gave in and let us have some fun in the sun.

ATHENS, Ala. – The South East Texas division of the American Bass Anglers Open Series will hold its first event of the 2018 season on April 28th in Brookeland, TX on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Sam Rayburn is known for its monster bags this time of year so don’t miss your chance on the excitement.
The competitors will launch at the public ramp in Brookeland, located at County Road 225 adjacent to the Umphrey Pavilion. Anglers will begin fishing at safe light with the weigh-in starting at 3 p.m. Onsite registration and check in will be from 4:30 PM – 6:30 PM Friday Apr 27th at the Umphrey Pavilion.
Jay Bennett Wins on Sam Rayburn
ATHENS, Ala. – Jay Bennett of Lufkin, TX won the Open Series Texas East Division, held February 24th at Sam Rayburn. Jay caught a five-fish limit of 21.71 lbs and took home a check for $6000.00
Running out of Brookeland, TX, the field dealt with overcast skies and a threat of rain. However, the rain held up for most of the day and turned to a little sunshine just minutes after weigh in started.
