Kerr Lake straddles the border of Virginia and North Carolina and either license is accepted. We encourage you to bring your family to this championship, as there is a lot for family to do at this event, and it is a beautiful area in Virginia.
Here is a great source of information about this event and what you can do while you are at the championship:
Kerr Lake has a special limit sizing of bass so this is especially important to read and understand as we will allow the Kerr Lake limit.
The rule reads simply as this: (Source: https://dwr.virginia.gov/waterbody/buggs-island-lake-kerr-reservoir/#regulations )
Black Bass (Largemouth, Smallmouth & Spotted)
- 5 per day in aggregate
- Only 2 of 5 bass less than 14 inches can be kept.
So, it is particularly important to understand the following:
- All bass weighed in must be over 12 inches.
- You may only have two bass in possession that are over 12 and under 14 inches, the remaining three in a limit must be 14 inches or greater.
