What Kenny does for a living:
What you should know about Kenny:
How Kenny started fishing
My mother got me into fishing. As a kid I started fishing in ponds. I got very good at fishing in ponds, then I moved to the lake. My passion was bass fishing when I was a kid but life had got in the way and I had to stop bass fishing and turned to catfishing. I started fishing catfish tournaments about five years ago and I have yet to win one but I almost always finish in the top five. Because of life in the past 4 or 5 years ago I started the bass fishing tournaments. I still haven't wan any but I have wan second and third in a few night tournaments. I absolutely love fishing and will do it until I am physically not able to do it anymore.
Aspirations or goals with fishing
I don't expect to be a professional at fishing. I don't think I'm good enough and I think I'm too old. However My goal in s to maybe earn a little money doing something that I love. Weather I'm fishing a tournament or not I will still be on the water on the weekends
Favorite way to fish
I love using a jig. I love the feeling of feeling that thump and when I set the hook the fish don't know what happens and then the fight is on. There are so many different ways to us ta jig and when the fish eat they don't let go.
Most exciting fishing experience
The best experience on the lake was about a month ago when my daughter wanted to go with me. It's always a good day when my daughter wants to go with me. And when what happens it don't matter if I catch anything or not
How Kenny preps for a tournament
If it's a lake I don't know I spend a lot of time looking at google earth and looking at a map. I also look online to see if there are any fishing reports. Then I try to precise but that tint always work out for me with my job
Three favorite search baits
Crank bait spinnerbaits and and depending on time of day top water
Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.
Last year I finished 2 in a night tournament all night we used black spinnerbaits and when the sun came up we used som top water baits.
Most challenging part of tournament fishing
When u find the fish while prefixing and when tournament day comes you either can't get them to bite or the move and you have to start all over
When tournaments don't go my way
I just keep on working until the end. Never give up
Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:
Don't over complicate things. Keep it simple and try not to get frustrated. Keep in mind that before you started competing you was doing it for fun. Keep it fun and stay relaxed.
Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport
The most basic techniques are using a plastic warm. Let is sink all the way to the bottom and slowly drag it and pause. When the fish grabs it pause for a second or two and make sure he has it then set the hook
