Most challenging part of tournament fishing
Staying positve when others are catching them and you are not.
When tournaments don't go my way
After having a melt down after a bad tournament during my second year fishing with the ABA my wife reminded me that I was supposed to be having fun. I have never forgetten that day or my best friends advice. Thanks Honey!
Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:
Fish a non-boater for at least one year!
Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport
Fish a small plastic worm on a split shot and texas rigged. You will get the feel for what that bite feels like and will take that to other techniques.
When learning a new technique take only rods with that lure tied on and fish until you are comfortable with the technique.
Become versatile! Somedays the won't bite your favorite lure/technique.
Remember to have fun.
