What you should know about Randy:

My word is my bond.

How Randy started fishing

Started fishing when I was 2 years old. I have a picture from 1957 showing me with a cane pole standing on the bank of a creek  fishing

After my wife and I finished our service to country, I was looking for a way to improve my bass fishing skills. I chose ABA because of their dedication to our armed forces. And I am forever greatful.

Aspirations or goals with fishing

Be competitive enough so that other anglers ask me "how'd you do?" as I pull in for weigh in.

Be humble enough to say "I did OK".
Be thoughtful enough to congratulate those who did better than me.

Be kind enough to share my knowledge to help others fish better plans.

Each time I set the hook.

How Randy preps for a tournament

Lakemaster Fish Smart and Google!

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

4 lb. largemouth on Pickwick with a top water spitting bait. Lure was way too small for this fish!

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

Fishing my plan

When tournaments don't go my way

Let it go!  Prepare for the next one.

Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

Commitment. Without this you're just dabbling around.

Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport

Fishing structure. You see it, you select the right spot based in visible information, you cast to it.
