What Mike does for a living:

Ultimate Bass website

What you should know about Mike:

Easy going, love to talk about fishing, love to fish

How Mike started fishing

My father had a rod in my hands when I was 5 years old and took me nearly every weekend.

Aspirations or goals with fishing

To enjoy my time on the water. I'm getting to broke and old to make a run for the classic. Nationals is always fun.

Favorite way to fish

Froggin and Punchin

Most exciting fishing experience

Winning my first tournament when I was 14 years old. All my wins are great but they get lost, my first will always be a great memory.

How Mike preps for a tournament

I spend at least an hour in the boat just sitting going over my game plan

Three favorite search baits

Frog, spinnerbait, squarebill

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

I've won a lot of tournaments. Best national AOY was thrid and I fished a variety of ways to catch my biggest five.

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

Staying focused and not spinning out. I used to get wrapped up and if I didn't have a limit in the first hour, I thought I lost.

When tournaments don't go my way

Sit back, take a deap breath, think and learn something

Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

It takes work, time on the water, and never try to force feed a bass what you want to catch them on.
