What Pat does for a living:
Retired and loving it
What you should know about Pat:
Along with fishing, I enjoy hunting, reloading, casting lead bullets, target shooting, pouring soft plastic baits, and making my own spinnerbaits. Being outdoors is what life is about. Remember your job is just a means to an end and that end is being outdoors.
How Pat started fishing
Dad took me fishing and got me interested. When I moved to Texas I started tournament fishing as a way to meet other anglers and got hooked from there.
Aspirations or goals with fishing
To be competitive, always fish to win
Favorite way to fish
Power fishing, Crankbaits, Spinnerbaits, etc. I get bored fishing slow
Most exciting fishing experience
It would have to be the 1989 MBAA Nationals tournament. After a slow start and being 110 place after Day 1, I finished 2nd place. So far this is the highlight of my ABA tournament career

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.
My best finish was 2nd at MBAA Nationals in 1989 on Lake Livingston. I was fishing a small backwater area on the last 2 days with a Manns -1 crankbait. I weighed in over 25 lbs total for those 2 days. I also placed 2nd on the Air Force team that year as well.
Most challenging part of tournament fishing
Adjusting to the changing conditions.
When tournaments don't go my way
Look back at the decisions I made and try and learn from them. I don't get down because of a bad tournament because it is fishing and nothing is guaranteed. I don't believe that luck plays a role it is all in preparation and execution.
Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:
Fish to your strengths and don't get caught up in the dock talk.
