What Truck, Boat and Outboard does Gary run?

2014 Triton 19XS with a Mercury 150 XS. This was the last A.B.A draw boat given at the National Championship at Clarks Hill in 2013 and I was the lucky one. I have A 2013 GMC Silverado for towing it.

What you should know about Gary:

How Gary started fishing

As a kid I use to do yard work for my neighbor and when he found out my parents gave my a fishing rod and reel and a few baits in a small tackle box for my birthday, he started to take me with him when he went. He liked fly fishing be was also in fishing for bass . We fished many of the rivers and reservoirs in RI.

Aspirations or goals with fishing

Favorite way to fish

I like to fish slow, I'm not one of those that likes to run make 3 or 4 casts then move if nothing happens. I stay in area for 45 mins and fish it 10 different ways, if a get one even a short it will extend my time in the area. I some times drive the non boaters crazy.

Most exciting fishing experience

How Gary preps for a tournament

I might pre fish the waters. I set with my normal search baits, make sure the rest of my rod are set up , reline any reels that need it then and just adjust to the conditions on the water.

Three favorite search baits

A top water, a senko, jig

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

My best Torunament was with a local club out of Mass. (the BAEA) Bass Anglers Education Alliance. We were have a night tourny on Highland lake in Winsted CT. in 2008. We started at midnite and it was a slow night but my non-boater and I both had limits but only about 5-6 lbs. We were fishing a flat near a chanel when my line just started moving so  I set the hook and its started the battle , I fought for at least 10 min before I get it so my non-boater could net it. When he got it in the boat and got a light on it we both just sat there with our mouths wide open , its was the biggest bass we'd ever seen, it weighted in at 6.71 lbs. That is still my PB. I came in 1st that day. I had other great days but that one is the top of the list.

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

When tournaments don't go my way

I say oh well, and start looking forward to the next one.
