Eventually pick up more sponsors and become a competitive angler in the bassmaster open series.
Favorite way to fish
topwater
Most exciting fishing experience
getting on a school of bass offshore, which got me 4th place and my first top 10 in a bfl.
How Michael preps for a tournament
study the body of water on a map as far as contour lines. see the water clarity and temp to know what colors and baits to have on. have a game plan and something else ready incase that doesn't come through.
Three favorite search baits
this can vary depending on the body of water im on, but a creature bait on carolina rig, spinnerbait and shad rap.
Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.
fourth place in a flw bfl tournament. found a flat right off the main with grass on it and threw the chatterbait all day. I had a limit in less than a hour and was culling fish left and right.
Most challenging part of tournament fishing
Stay positive no matte how your day is going and never give up!
When tournaments don't go my way
I try to put it behind me and start focusing on the next one.
Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:
spend as much time on the water as you can!
Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport
I would say to focus on the basics at first and once you get comfortable with that try to move up. you are not going to learn every bait/technique overnight so just take it one step at a time and you will continue to get better.
