Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.
ABA North Carolina East Division 15 Lake Sutton Tournament on 9 January 2021. On the morning of tournament, I was the 3rd boat to blast off in below freezing conditions. For those that have never been to Lake Sutton, it is a Power Plant Lake which has a warm water discharge. After blasting off I made a 2 minute run towards the warm canal. Once I arrived at my first spot the wind was blowing from the North at 15-20 MPH with 3 foot rollers coming across the lake. I positioned my bow into the wind and put my trolling motor on spotlock. I looked down at my Mega 360 imaging and notied a large school of bait fish swiming around my boat, so i quickly picked up a micro swim bait that I had tied on that morning and caught a 5 pound bass immediately. By 8:00 AM i had caught my 5 fish limit and made several culls, I was sitting on a 27.69 pound bag with my big fish weighing 6.19 lbs. I went on to finish 1st place and win my very first Bass Fishing Tournament. This was the 1st of many to come in 2021.
Most challenging part of tournament fishing
Understanding fish patterns on different bodies of water.
When tournaments don't go my way
When tournaments dont go Shawn's way, he uses that as a moment to learn, reflect, and motivation to do better in the next tournaments.
Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:
