What Alex does for a living:
I am Graphic Designer for 23 years.
What you should know about Alex:
I am a family man. With a good wife and two daughters. Very responsible and focused on what I am committed to. "Fishing is my passion since I was very young".
How Alex started fishing
I started fishing on boat in 1999 at the age of 20 at a local fishing club (Cidra Fishing Club) in Puerto Rico.
Aspirations or goals with fishing
I want to develop as a professional.
Favorite way to fish
I start with a spinnerbait when fishing shallow water.
Most exciting fishing experience
Fishing Peacock Bass in my Island of Pueto Rico.
How Alex preps for a tournament
Looking for information on the internet, entering the social networks related to the lake that I will be fishing. Studying the maps of the lakes.
Three favorite search baits
Spinnerbaits, lipless crankbaits and jerk bait.
Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.
In my best tournament in Puerto Rico I finished in first place with 76 pounds in two days of fishing. I can get a pattern with spinnerbait between trees submerged in shallow water.
Most challenging part of tournament fishing
Fish in an area with many fishermen nearby in a small body of water.
When tournaments don't go my way
Keep my control and never give up!
Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:
Do not be afraid and take the first step. You just have to have one thing in mind and that is that day will be the first of many adventures in fishing. Enjoy that first tournament you always gain experiences!
Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport
The Spinnerbaits fish through the brush: they are designed to be fairly free of obstacles and that is a main point in the weeds. The lures with too many exposed hooks get hooked in this type of vegetation, but the spinnerbaits go through the weeds very well and best of all, the bass likes to eat them. I use enough spinnerbaits when I fish this shallow water deck.
