What Timothy does for a living:

I currently work in sales. I am also proud retired military, army.

What you should know about Timothy:

I served 4 tours in the army & am currently retired. I work hard & play even harder! I am an avid bass fisher & hunter & love anything to do with the outdoors.

I am married to a wonderful woman who pushes me everyday to do my very best in all aspects of my life. She is my #1 fan & supporter...she has really pushed me to pursue fishing as a full-time career.

I am so blessed to have her, my family & friends' support.

How Timothy started fishing

My fishing "career" started with my dad and Pop Pop (my grandfather) , before I could even walk. They would take me in their 14 ft Jon boat for brimm and bass.

Aspirations or goals with fishing

To learn as much as possible & challenge myself, & hopefully make it into a career.

Favorite way to fish

Top water / power fishing

Most exciting fishing experience

Catching a 7 ½ lb bass during a MLF Big 5 event on Santee Cooper on top water which landed me a 3rd place finish and second big fish.

How Timothy preps for a tournament

I do lots of research weeks prior to the actual tournament: practice, reading articles, watching videos, figuring out weather patterns for that time of year, etc.

The day before a tournament is typically spent on my boat getting together a game plan, & rigging up my rods.

Three favorite search baits

Frog

Crank

Chatter

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

3rd place MLF Big 5 BFL :I followed my gut and used my prior knowledge of the lake to go to the best spots I knew where fish would be. I kept my "why" in mind but had fun while competing.

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

Adapting to the sometimes ever changing conditions.

When tournaments don't go my way

I slow down, breathe, trust my gut, & revert back to what I know... I use the baits I am most confident in, & the styles of fishing that usually bring in the big ones. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. It is a good learning experience all in all.

Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

Challenge Yourself: Don’t get “stuck” just going to one(1) lake all the time, or using your “favorite” bait all the time… challenge yourself to go explore different lakes, & use bait(s) that you’re not so familiar with or need to learn how to use. You never know where it may come in handy!

Practice, practice, practice!

Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport

Practice, practice, practice! Spend as much time on the water as you can getting to know the ends & outs of the lake… there is always something new to learn about a lake, no matter how much you think you know about it. When all else fails stick to what you know ! Trust your gut / instincts!
