How Thadeus started fishing

I started fishing with my grandfather when I was big enough to follow him around the local lake. Watching fishing on tv inspired me to want to fish tournaments.

Aspirations or goals with fishing

Favorite way to fish

Jig fishing

Most exciting fishing experience

Many experiences come to mind, but winning the BFL Super Tournament on Okeechobee and competing in the All American were definatly a memorable ones!

How Thadeus preps for a tournament

Three favorite search baits

A Venom Lures Skip Shad, 1/2 Jig, and a Lipless Crank Bait.

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

I've had several great finishes, but one of my favorite tournaments was my 1st place finish on Okeechobee in the 2015 BFL two day. I caught all my fish on Hollow Bodied Frogs.

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

Staying focused even when things are not going your way. Fishing is a mental game. If you mentaly fall apart you might as well put the boat back on the trailer and go home.

When tournaments don't go my way

Stay focused and fish my strengths.

Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

Don't think of Tournaments as a way to make money just enjoy the competion and learn from every experiance. Eliminating weaknesses in your game will make you a better fisherman. You should have complete confidence in every technique used.

Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport

If your just getting into bass fishing keep it simple. Wacky Rig or Texas Rig a Worm. These techniques catch fish year round anywhere. Also a Square Bill Crank Bait is a simple technique that anyone can start catching bass on. Just throw it out and reel then add some pauses and twiches and you will catch them.
