What Aaron does for a living:

Southern New Jersey

What you should know about Aaron:

Easy going. I just like to fish.

How Aaron started fishing

Statred fishing with a neighbor as a child not knowing what i was really doing or trying to catch. Then I did a lot of back country trout fishing as a teen. then in my late 30's I started bass fishing small ponds and graduaded to small lakes and thats when i tried my first buddy tourny. I've been hooked ever since.

Aspirations or goals with fishing

To try to learn more about the waters I fish and try to hit at least one new body of water a season.

Favorite way to fish

Top water...you can't beat that explosion.

Most exciting fishing experience

I was trout fishing with 2 lb test, in a lake, not my favort way to fish. just sitting and talking with a couple of old timers. then my rod tip starts jumping like I have a largest trout i ever had bit it. I'm thinking, "Man, I'be got 2lb test on here." so i backed down the drag a bit and played the moster for about 15 to 20 minutes. All of the old timers were yelling and trying to tell me what to do. I finally got this girl up close enough to see it was a the largest bucket mouth I've ever seen let alone cought. Well I got her out of the water and got the #16 trout hook out. I didn't want to have her out of the water too long and never got her scaled but she had to be over 8lb and full of eggs. I revived her and with a nice strong swoosh of her tail she was gone.

How Aaron preps for a tournament

By aggravating my wife, well, thats what she would say.

Three favorite search baits

Buzz, Spinner and a small crank

Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.

I finished 1st in what was the hottest day I ever fished. Tidal water, mid summer, drank my body weight in water. Fished and spot of shade no matter how skinny the water was. That was only an 11lb bag of five but enough to get first.

Most challenging part of tournament fishing

Not knowing the waters as well as I should. I don't get out to fish the tourny waters untill tournament day. And all the talented fisherman out there.

When tournaments don't go my way

I just try to learn as much as I can from moving around the water  and checking out more locations and listening to other talk about their day on the water.

Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:

It's never over until time is up. Just keep working it until the last possible minute. that "one more cast" menatality will get you through some tough days.

Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport

Slow down. if you think your slow enough, your not.
