What Truck, Boat and Outboard does Roger run?
Chevrolet truck/ Bass tracker
In the past yes, but i've had to cut way back on my tournament fishing as my children have gotten older and dont pursue them as much now because im not able to represent or support them the way i would like, maybe in the future as my children get a little older that will change but im proud of my fishing accomplishments even if i never fish another tournament
What Roger does for a living:
What you should know about Roger:
How Roger started fishing
My family has always been a fishing family for as long as i can remember.1st tournament i was a senior in high school, won big fish pot of 1,100.00, been hooked ever since
Aspirations or goals with fishing
To enjoy and appreciate every opportunity God blesses me with.
Favorite way to fish
Skipping a jig under docks because i grew up fishing lake norman and you better know how to do that if you want to compete around here.
Most exciting fishing experience
Won the 1st ever Ranger owners tournament against a field of 334 boats and qualified for the Forrest Wood Cup, Also 2 back to back trips to the All American. And hopefully The Ray Scott Championship in 2017
How Roger preps for a tournament
i get very little practice anymore but try to adjust on the water
Three favorite search baits
floating worm, alabama rig and jerk bait
Best tournament finish and what you did that day when you were fishing.
Most recent win was Ram Open series on badin lake in march 2016 had 20.98lbs on a big spinnerbait fished shallow, i was fishing out of a small bass tracker with a 60hp, it was 1st tournament i fished in that boat and probably smallest boat in the field.
Most challenging part of tournament fishing
Things always change, guys will say they know what to do because they did it before but its almost always different
When tournaments don't go my way
Its a game of highs and lows, no one wins all the time, not even KVD or Bryan Thrift
Advice to give to an aspiring tournament angler:
Do things the right way, dont give up when you struggle and be humble when you succeed. Give God the glory and be grateful you live in America and can fish tournaments
Some shared general bass fishing techniques for people just getting into the sport
Probably start with basic techniques, shakey head worm will catch fish of all sizes, i almost always commit to power fishing and go for the win but when someone is starting out catching any fish is important to keep them interested, it can be overwhelming to start off trying to learn everything at once
