These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in the Division D-96 two-day championship on Clarks Hill Lake, May 22 & 23, 2009 and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held the fall of 2010. Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.
The top five anglers were: 1. Curtis Temples 10.53 lbs. 2. Ryan McMurtury 8.66 lbs. 3. Phillip Anderson 8.61 lbs. 4. Don Kneece 7.86 lbs. 5. Alex Dziengielewski 7.56 lbs.
Conditions: Weather was cold and rainy all day long. There was a miserable cold wind out of the NE at 10 to 20 mph, low temp of 46 and a high of 48. Lake was down about one-half foot from full pool but was being drawn back down from high water this week at about 3 feet about full pool. The lake was stained everywhere except for the lower end.
Winning Strategy: Curtis fished the middle part of the lake and caught of his fish throwing crankbaits to secondary points. The more aggressive bite came later in the day.
Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be February 28, 2010 on Lake Greenwood at Greenwood State Park
