These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall. Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.
The top five anglers were: 1.) Randy Ables 16.20 lbs. 2.) Brandon Perkins 13.32 lbs. 3.) Tom O'Bryant 11.23 lbs. 4.) William Jasper 9.31 lbs. 5.) Gerald Zmudzinski 8.21 lbs.
Conditions: Cloudy and Cool 40 - 50 degrees with winds out of the Northwest at 10-15 mph most of the day.
Winning Strategy: Randy began the day fishing weed bed edges on the main river with spinner and topwater baits. Making controlled drifts with the wind he soon discovered he must move out further on the weed line to get quality fish. He put the nose of the boat in the wind and began catching quality fish. By 11:45 he had cullled 3 times and had his 5 fish winning weight.
Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be 31 October on Kentucky Lake out of the New Johnsonville, TN ramp.
