The top five anglers were: 1. Benji Dumas – 11.25 lbs 2. Malcolm Cooper – 10.56 lbs 3. Brooks Greer – 8.83 lbs 4. Jeremy Dutton – 7.19 lbs 5. Troy Harrison – 6.98 lbs
Conditions: It was a sunny day with temperatures starting out very cool in the low 40’s but warming up to almost 80 degrees by weigh-in time. The wind started out calm switching to out of the south and reaching sustained winds of 10 to 15 mph later in the day. The water temperatures ranged from the low 60’s to upper 60’s in the upper reaches of the lake. The water was muddy and still about a foot high due to recent rains up in the creeks, but was slightly stained to clear in the main lake.
Winning Strategy: Benji fished in two to three feet of water around cypress trees early in the morning with soft plastics. He moved to the main lake fishing a jig around boat docks in 3 to 5 feet of water later in the day. He caught fish pretty steady using both strategies throughout the day.
