ATHENS, Ala. – Barry Collins won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Georgia Division 72 tournament, held April, 5, 2014, on Lake Oconee.
Running out of Sugar Creek Marina landing near Buckhead, the Locus Grove, Georgia, angler caught 5 bass weighing 16.46 pounds with a 5.27-pound kicker. For the victory, Barry took home a check for $660. Barry caught his fish on Shaky head and crankbait.
In second among these AFT competitors, Travis Clay of Jackson, Georgia, caught 5 bass weighing 15.83 pounds with a 5.21-pound kicker and pocketed a check for $414.
Taking third place, Tyler Rhoades of Madison, Georgia, caught 5 bass weighing 15.52 pounds with a 4.68-pound kicker and pocketed a check for $175.
Sonnie Lee of Salt Springs, Florida, won the big bass contest with a 5.49-pound lunker and won $175 for big bass.
In fourth place, Joshua George of Loganville, Georgia, caught 5 bass weighing 14.92 pounds with a 3.68-pound kicker. Steve Lee of Goodhope, Georgia, rounded out the top five competitors with 5 bass weighing 14.74 pounds.
These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler of the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round Fish-Off. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
The next divisional tournament will be held April 26, 214 on Lake Oconee near Buckhead, Georgia.
