Matt West won the American Fishing Tour, presented by American Bass Anglers, Georgia North Division 125 Tournament held March 22, 2014 on Lake Allatoona.
Running out of Gatewood Ramp near Cartersville, Georgia, the Hiram, Georgia angler caught five bass weighing-in at 12.24 pounds including a 4.89 pound kicker. For the victory, Matt took home a check for $463. Matt caught his fish on Livingston Lures, Carolina-rigged lizards, and Grande Bass worms.
In second among the competitors, Eric Nethery of Acworth, Georgia caught five bass weighing 9.89 pounds including a 3.80 pound kicker and pocketed a check for $201.
Taking third place, Michael Dickson of Taylorsville, Georgia caught five bass weighing 7.84 pounds and pocketed a check for $71.
Matt West also won the big bass contest with a 4.89 pound lunker. He caught his big fish on a Grande Bass Baits finesse worm.
These anglers accrued valuable points toward the divisional angler or the year title. The points champion from each division will compete in the annual American Bass Anglers AFT Angler of The Year Final Round Fish-Off. In addition, the top 500 anglers from the various divisions will earn the right to compete in the three-day ABA, AFT National Championship tournament.
The next divisional tournament will be held April 12, 2014 on Lake Allatoona near Cartersville, Georgia.
The American Fishing Tour offers low cost, close to home bass tournaments that are designed for the weekend angler. All ABA anglers fish for money and points. The points advance the angler to their divisional championship and the top 500 anglers in the US are invited to the American Fishing Tour National Championship.
