Great weather greeted the 23 anglers that came out to fish the 6th tournament of the American Bass Anglers American Fishing Tour Division 47 2014 season. The bluebird skies and lack of wind made for a great day of fishing but as usual, it made for a tough day of catching. Fishing was difficult for most, but a few anglers found some Maumelle giants to bring to the scales. 42 fish crossed the scales for a total weight of 102.51 lbs for a 2.44 lb average. Six 5 fish limits were weighed in and ALL fish were released alive.
Eric Turner brought in 5 bass for 22.06 lbs. Eric caught his fish on an umbrella rig tipped with Reaper’s swimbaits thrown on a Dobyns Savvy series flipping rod and Shimano Curado reel spooled up with 20 lb Viscious fluorocarbon line. Eric took home $520 for his efforts.
John Simonof hauled in second place with 18.41 lbs and earned $311 for the day. John caught his fish on a Yum Flash Mob Jr. with Gene Larew Sweet Swimmers thrown on a Temple Fork Outfitters GTS BBC7116-1 swimbait rod and a Lew’s BB1 Pro Speed Spool loaded up with 65 lb Hi-Seas Grand Slam braid. A few key fish were also caught on a homemade green pumpkin football jig thrown on a Temple Fork Outfitters GTS C736-1 heavy action rod and Lews BB1 Speed Spool with 17lb Hi-Seas Quattro Fluorocarbon line during mid-day after the lake turned slick and the sun was high. JD Vocque rounded out the top three with a 5 fish limit weighing in at 15.36 lbs. JD also caught big fish for the day, a 6.57 lb Maumelle monster. JD caught all of his fish on an umbrella rig and took home $218 on the day.
