From Division 30 Southeast TN on March 8th 2014 Sam Morgan from Coalmont TN is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a 1st Place win and $365.00 in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Nickajack Lake this past weekend. On a very tough day of fishing with no limits brought to the scales Sam’s 4 bass weighed in at 8.94 lbs. Second place went to Mark Riggs with a weight of 8.91 lbs, third place was Cliff Thomas with a weight of 6.96 lbs. Big bass was awarded was to Mark Riggs for catching a 6.84 lb largemouth.
These anglers are acquiring valuable points to insure their birth in division’s two-day champion and the American Fishing Tour National Championship that will be held this fall. Their points are also being used to determine the divisional angler of the year. The top angler by points earned in this division will represent the division in the Angler of the Year final round.
The top five anglers were: 1. Sam Morgan – 8.94 lbs 2. Mark Riggs – 8.91 lbs 3. Cliff Thomas – 6.96 lbs 4. Jake Osborne – 6.63 lbs 5. Lewis Johnson – 3.15 lbs
Conditions: Very sunny with a low in the high 30’s with a daytime high in the low 70’s
Winning Strategy: Sam’s fish were caught on a variety of baits around shallow water areas.
Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be April 26th on Chickamauga lake at Chester Frost Park.
